Mental Health Assessment

There is typically an important story and history behind the mental health and addiction concerns we are experiencing in any given moment. You deserve the opportunity to share your story in a safe and non-judgemental setting, with a caring and emphatic treatment provider. By completing a throughout assessment we can make the best sense of your present concerns, which will then help us discover the most effective treatment options.

During our first session together, and with your consent, we will explore: early life experiences and development, family history and dynamics, attachments, academic and work history, relationship history, experiences coping and managing stress, and your overall mental health and addiction experiences and symptoms. Depending on the mental health and addiction concerns you are experiencing, assessment instruments and tools may also be used to help provide baseline measures of functioning and distress.

The information you share with me is held strictly confidential and will not be shared with any third parties without your explicit consent. Sometimes it is helpful to include family, support persons, and other health care providers in your mental health care, and we will discuss whether this may benefit you during our sessions together.
